The last decade in film has been big on recycling - lots of comic-book movies, tons of sequels, prequels, reboots, and remakes, as well as one relentless geeky teenage wizard and a bunch of dancing hobbits. My educated guess is that these trends will only increase in the coming decade and reach their pinnacle in the form of film mash-ups. This has already happened in the comicbook world in the form of Amalgam Comics, which combines DC and Marvel characters to make them ten times more kickass, e.g. Dark Claw - who is an amalgamation of Batman and Wolverine:

In film, I believe the major trend will be combining children's movies, of the kind which also appeal to "cool" adults, with strictly adult-oriented movies that add a certain sexy / dramatic / violent streak. Much like the successful string of R-rated comedies by Judd Apatow and friends, this new genre will be known as "the R-rated Children's Movie." Here are a few prime examples, coming soon to a theater near you:

Also, over 90% of these movies will star George Clooney.
